Vigonovo and the Riviera del Brenta
Vigonovo belongs to the Riviera del Brenta area, together with other inland centres such as Fossò and Campagna Lupia. The historic turning point for this territory came in 1345, when the Great Council of the Republic of Venice repealed the law forbidding Venetian citizens from buying mainland land, opening the way for the great patrician families to settle along the Brenta and build the Venetian villas that still define the area today.
Villa Sagredo and Galileo Galilei
Villa Sagredo in Vigonovo is the municipality's most representative landmark. It belonged to the Venetian branch of the Sagredo family and is linked to Galileo Galilei, who, according to tradition, stayed there as a guest during his years teaching at the University of Padua, forming a friendship with Gianfrancesco Sagredo, a figure the scientist would later immortalise as an interlocutor in his scientific dialogues. The villa, with its park and Renaissance architecture, remains a direct witness to the civilisation of the Venetian villas along the Brenta.
The church of Santa Maria Assunta
The municipality's main place of worship is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, which houses paintings by Venetian artists active between the 17th and 18th centuries, including work attributed to Domenico Tiepolo. Farming and residential life
