Bieno and its location between Valsugana and Tesino
Located in the eastern Valsugana, Bieno sits at a hinge point between the valley floor and the Tesino plateau, acting as a natural gateway when travelling up from Strigno and Villa Agnedo. The village looks out over the Chieppena stream flowing in the valley below, while the first foothills of the Lagorai rise behind it. Close to Castello Tesino, Cinte Tesino and Pieve Tesino, Bieno keeps its own identity, made of stone houses, scattered hamlets and a quiet character that makes it a discreet starting point for exploring the lesser-known Valsugana.
History and origins of a mountain village
Like many villages in the eastern Valsugana, Bieno has its roots in a mountain economy based on farming, grazing and woodland use, with settlements that consolidated over the centuries along the sunny slope above the Chieppena.
