Trevignano is a municipality in the Treviso pedemontana, located about 18 kilometres from Treviso, bordering Istrana, Montebelluna, Paese, Vedelago and Volpago del Montello. It is a scattered municipality, whose town hall is not located in the village of Trevignano itself but in nearby Falzè, and which also includes the hamlets of Signoressa and Musano. The territory sits within the hill belt leading up to the Prealps, a short distance from the Montello, the wooded rise that for centuries served as a timber reserve of the Republic of Venice for building ships at the Arsenale. Trevignano's landscape alternates cultivated countryside, small residential centres and the first outcrops of the Marca Trevigiana hills, an area also known for wine production. It is a waypoint towards Montebelluna and the Asolo hills, valued for its quiet setting and closeness to the natural surroundings of the Montello.

The story

The story of Trevignano

A scattered municipality across Falzè, Signoressa and Musano

Trevignano is a scattered municipality: its administrative seat is not located in the village of Trevignano itself but in nearby Falzè, while the hamlets of Signoressa and Musano complete, in order of population, the layout of the municipal territory. This structure, common to other parts of the Veneto pedemontana, reflects a settlement pattern historically spread across several clusters rather than concentrated in a single centre.

The Montello, a reserve of the Serenissima

A short distance from Trevignano lies the Montello, a hill range about fifteen kilometres long, with a maximum height of around 370 metres, formed of very ancient alluvial conglomerates. For centuries, under the rule of the Republic of Venice, the Montello's oak forest was subject to strict protective laws as the "Forest of the Serenissima", reserved for supplying timber to the Venetian shipyards thanks to its proximity to the Piave, a direct route to the lagoon.

Farming and hilly landscape

Trevignano's territory sits in a transitional area between the Treviso plain and the first hills of the Marca, a zone also known for vine cultivation and local wine production. Its borders with Montebelluna and Volpago del Montello place the municipality in a strategic position for exploring both the farming plain and the pedemontana hills.

Location and connections

Trevignano is about 18 kilometres from Treviso and is well connected to Montebelluna, Castelfranco Veneto and the Asolo hills. Its location makes it a quiet base for visiting the Montello, the Marca Trevigiana and the pedemontana towns without straying too far from the provincial capital.
