In the Padua belt
The territory of Maserà di Padova lies immediately south of the provincial capital, in a plain area characterised by a dense network of canals and watercourses historically used for irrigating the fields. Its proximity to Padua has over time made it a residential as well as an agricultural area.
Roman origins and centuriation
The origins of the settlement of Maserà probably date back to pre-Roman times, with a subsequent reorganisation of the territory in the Roman age through centuriation, the system of geometric division of agricultural land. Traces of this subdivision are still legible in the orientation of many rural roads and plots.
The monastery of Santa Giustina and the Middle Ages
An important role in the development of the territory was played by the Benedictine monastery of Santa Giustina of Padua, present in the area since 740 in a locality called Corte. In 1234 Maserà was raised to the status of municipality, at the time also including the territories of Bertipaglia, Bolzani, Cà Murà, Pratiarcati and Villa Albarella.

The historic hamlets of Maserà, once included within the ancient medieval municipality, today retain a largely residential and agricultural character. Bertipaglia, Bolzani and Cà Murà, in particular, retain a fabric of small centres spread across the countryside south of Padua.
Villa Petrobelli
In the hamlet of Cà Murà stands Villa Petrobelli, a manor residence of historical interest for the municipal territory, evidence of the presence of noble families in the Padua countryside between the early modern and contemporary periods.
