Fonte si trova ai piedi dei Colli Asolani, nella fascia pedemontana asolana della provincia di Treviso, in un territorio di transizione tra la pianura e le prime alture che salgono verso il massiccio del Grappa. Il comune comprende diverse frazioni, tra cui Onè di Fonte, Fonte Alto, Mattarelli e Piovega, e confina a nord con il territorio di Pieve del Grappa. Tra le testimonianze storiche del territorio spicca Villa Fietta, fatta costruire intorno al 1800 dai conti Fietta e nota per aver ospitato il re Vittorio Emanuele III, esempio della presenza nobiliare che nei secoli ha lasciato tracce nell'architettura locale. L'economia resta legata all'agricoltura pedemontana, con coltivazioni tipiche della fascia collinare trevigiana, campi e piccoli vigneti che si alternano lungo le strade di collegamento tra le frazioni. Fonte non è una meta turistica affermata, ma offre un paesaggio quieto, adatto a chi cerca la campagna veneta lontano dai grandi flussi, in un contesto che privilegia i ritmi lenti della vita rurale.

L'histoire de Fonte

At the foot of the Asolan Hills

The territory of Fonte lies in the foothill belt separating the Treviso plain from the first Asolan hills, in a transitional landscape of cultivated fields and gentle slopes, with the Grappa massif visible in the background to the north.

The hamlets between plain and hill

The municipality comprises several hamlets, including Onè di Fonte, Fonte Alto, Mattarelli and Piovega, each with its own rural settlement scattered across the countryside, following a settlement pattern typical of the Venetian foothills.

Villa Fietta and its noble history

Among the most notable historical landmarks is Villa Fietta, built around 1800 for the Fietta counts, which according to local tradition hosted King Victor Emmanuel III. The villa bears witness to the noble families who chose this foothill area for their residences.

Agriculture and the foothill landscape

Fonte's economy remains mainly agricultural, with crops typical of the Treviso hill belt and a landscape alternating fields, vineyards and small rural clusters, in continuity with the nearby Montello and Asolan Hills area.

Proximity to Monte Grappa

Fonte borders the territory of Pieve del Grappa to the north, at the edge of the Grappa massif, a mountain linked in Italian history to the events of the First World War. Although not itself among the front's memorial sites, the municipality shares its geographical and landscape proximity.
