Cerea is known throughout Italy as one of the leading districts for fine furniture and period-style reproduction pieces, a craft and industrial sector that over the course of the 20th century transformed a local economy previously based almost exclusively on agriculture. Dozens of companies, many family-run, produce classic furniture, reproductions of period pieces and furnishings crafted with artisanal techniques passed down through generations. Cerea's origins as a settlement date back to the medieval period, when its parish church served as a religious and administrative reference point for a broad area of the lower Verona plain.
