In the Riviera del Brenta
Campolongo Maggiore is part of the Riviera del Brenta, the group of municipalities facing the course of the Brenta river between Padua and the Venice lagoon. The mostly flat territory retains a rural character, with countryside alternating with small settlements and waterways.
The churches of Bojon and Liettoli
In the hamlet of Bojon there is a parish church dating from the sixteenth century, with a Romanesque bell tower from the fifteenth century. At Liettoli, the parish church of San Lorenzo, built in 1836 and restored in 1884, holds an altarpiece attributed to Gabriele Caliari, son of Paolo Veronese, depicting the saints Maria Immacolata and Anna.
The Valle Averto nature reserve
The Valle Averto nature reserve, managed by WWF Italy, covers about two hundred hectares within the municipal territory and is known above all for the richness of its waterbird population. The area is one of the best-preserved wetland environments in the zone between the countryside and the Venetian lagoon.
Boschettona and the Venice lagoon
On the edge of the lagoon lies the Boschettona area, included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Venice and its lagoon. The place is popular for walks and activities such as kitesurfing, and is one of the points where the municipal territory comes into direct contact with the lagoon environment.
Archaeology and rural life
The territory preserves evidence from Roman times, illustrated in the permanent educational-archaeological exhibition dedicated to daily life in the Roman age, housed in the municipality. The local economy remains tied to agriculture and to activities along the Brenta river, which crosses the municipal territory.
