Nove 的故事
On the Brenta, next to Bassano
Nove lies along the course of the Brenta, a short distance from Bassano del Grappa, in a position that for centuries has favoured trade and the transport of raw materials needed for ceramic working.
The origins of ceramics in Nove
Nove's ceramic tradition began in 1727-1728, when Giovanni Battista Antonibon, following legislative action by the Venetian Republic, set up a workshop that would become one of Europe's leading ceramic manufactures, launching over three hundred years of uninterrupted production.
The Museo Civico della Ceramica
Opened in 1995 in the eighteenth-century Palazzo De Fabris, the museum holds more than two thousand pieces of decorated majolica, terracotta and porcelain, tracing three centuries of local ceramic production, from the earliest eighteenth-century manufactures to contemporary work.
Artisan workshops and a living tradition
In the centre of Nove, numerous artisan workshops continue to produce ceramics using traditional techniques, making the town a place where visitors can observe up close a craft still practised daily, not only preserved in a museum.
Nove and Bassano, twin capitals
Nove shares with nearby Bassano del Grappa the leading role in Venetian ceramics: Bassano in turn has its own ceramics museum, housed in Palazzo Sturm, and together the two towns form a single artisan district of European standing.
