Fossò 的故事
In the Riviera del Brenta
Fossò falls within the geographic and administrative area of the Riviera del Brenta, the belt of territory following the river's course between Padua and the Venetian lagoon, famous for its sequence of Venetian villas built by the nobility between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. The municipality lies inland relative to the river's main course, in a setting more agricultural and productive than monumental.
The shoemaking district
The Riviera del Brenta, and Fossò with it, is home to one of Italy's most important shoemaking districts, specialising in high-end footwear production for national and international brands. Numerous small and medium-sized businesses in the municipality work along the supply chain, from leatherworking to assembly, keeping alive craft skills passed down through generations of local shoemakers.
A farming and productive territory
Alongside shoemaking, the municipal territory retains cultivated farmland, within a landscape typical of the eastern Veneto plain crossed by minor drainage canals. It is a setting where manufacturing and farming coexist, without the tourist density found in other locations in the area.
Close to the route of the Brenta villas
While it does not host the most famous villas, Fossò lies a short distance from towns such as Dolo, Mira and Stra, stops along the well-known tourist route of the Venetian villas along the Brenta canal, which includes historic residences such as Villa Pisani in Stra. Its position makes it a practical base for exploring the area without staying there directly.
