Introduction and location
Sinalunga rises on a hilly relief in the eastern part of the province of Siena, on the edge of the Valdichiana, a large agricultural plain that separates the Sienese part of Tuscany from the Arezzo part. Its position, along the connections between Siena, Arezzo, and Umbria, has historically made it a point of passage and rest. The inhabited center, developed around the ancient nucleus locally called il Poggio, dominates the surrounding countryside, offering wide views of vineyards, olive groves, and gentle hills, typical of the central Tuscan landscape.
History and origins
