Skydra is a municipality in the regional unit of Pella, in the region of central Macedonia, set in the heart of the fertile plain that takes its name from the provincial capital, also known as the plain of Giannitsa. The municipal territory includes the town of Skydra and several rural villages scattered across the surrounding countryside, linked by a network of secondary roads and irrigation canals that have supported intensive agriculture in the area for decades. Its position, halfway between Edessa and Giannitsa, has made Skydra a significant agricultural and commercial hub for the whole of central Macedonia. Here economic life revolves almost entirely around the fields and orchards, with a calendar shaped by the fruit-growing seasons, from the spring blossom to the summer harvest, which sets the working rhythm of the whole community.

This location makes the municipality a convenient stopping point for anyone visiting the region: a short distance away lie Edessa, known for its waterfalls and historic centre, and Giannitsa, the plain's largest town, with a heritage also linked to the Ottoman period. A little further east lies Naoussa, another important fruit-growing and wine-producing centre at the foot of Vermio, sharing with Skydra a similar agricultural vocation and mountain backdrop.
