Revine Lago の物語
Between two lakes at the foot of the Prealps
The municipal territory spreads around Lago di Lago and the smaller Lago di Santa Maria, both of glacial origin and fed by natural springs, an unusual water system for this part of Veneto. The shores are largely free of buildings, covered by reed beds and riparian woodland that host herons, coots and other waterbirds. A walking and cycling loop runs around the perimeter of both lakes, passing old water mills still visible along the canals. Framed to the north by the first Prealpine foothills, the landscape changes with the seasons: autumn mist over the water, intense spring green, winter silence.
The Livelet Archaeological Educational Park
On the shore between the two lakes stands the Livelet Archaeological Educational Park, created to showcase the Colmaggiore site, continuously inhabited from the Neolithic through the Bronze Age. Inside the park, three pile dwellings have been reconstructed using the same techniques and materials as the original period, and can only be visited with a guided tour led by archaeologists and museum educators. The visit explains how people lived on a lakeside settlement six thousand years ago: building on wooden piles, flint-knapping, weaving, pottery-making. The park is open on holidays from April to October, while for the rest of the year it welcomes schools and groups by appointment, with workshops designed mainly for children and families.
The village, its hamlets and everyday life
The village centre of Revine Lago is made up of small hamlets gathered around the parish church and the main square, with stone and plaster buildings typical of Treviso foothill architecture. There are no major monuments to point to, but a human-scale urban fabric, with vegetable gardens, courtyards and old farmhouses still lived in. The local economy, once tied to lake fishing and grain milling at the water mills, today rests mostly on small-scale farming, livestock and hiking tourism. It is a town that does not try to appear more than it is: an authentic, quiet place, where the rhythm of the seasons still matters more than any calendar of events.
Close to Vittorio Veneto and the Prosecco Hills
Revine Lago lies just a few minutes from Vittorio Veneto, whose historic centre is split between Ceneda and Serravalle and includes the well-known Teatro Verdi, an ideal stop for anyone wanting to combine a stay by the lakes with a taste of a proper art town. To the south open the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, declared a UNESCO World Heritage landscape in 2019 for their terraced vineyard scenery. Visitors staying in Revine Lago can therefore plan cycling trips along the Prosecco Road, winery tastings and visits to hillside villages, then return in the evening to the quiet of the lakeside village, far calmer than the area's busier tourist destinations.
Nature and outdoor activities
For outdoor enthusiasts, Revine Lago is a convenient base for hikes into the Treviso Prealps, with trails climbing towards Monte Cor and the Cansiglio, a wooded plateau shared with the provinces of Belluno and Pordenone. The two lakes are suited to gentle walks, birdwatching and regulated sport fishing, while valley-floor cycle paths connect the village to neighbouring towns without major elevation changes. There is no shortage of small family-run accommodation, agritourism farms and trattorias serving traditional foothill dishes, from wild mushrooms to alpine-pasture cheeses, in a setting still far less touristy than other parts of Prealpine Veneto.
