Pellizzano is a municipality in the Val di Sole, in Trentino, nestled along the Noce stream in the western part of the valley, between the Brenta Dolomites and the peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale group. Born from the union of the ancient communities of Pellizzano, Castello, and Termenago, the village preserves in the church of the Nativity of Mary one of the most significant fresco cycles in the valley, the work of the famous family of traveling painters, the Baschenis, who also left here the testimony of devotion to Saint Roch, protector against epidemics, still alive in a small chapel dedicated to him in the cemetery of Termenago. In winter, Pellizzano is the gateway to the Folgarida-Marilleva ski area and preserves in Termenago a sporting tradition linked to ski jumping, with training jumps used by generations of young athletes. In summer, the Noce, whose waters have hosted the canoe and kayak world championships, remains the destination for rafting practiced throughout the valley, while the paths climb from the farmsteads towards the mountain pastures, on the borders of the Stelvio National Park and the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park. Between faith, sport, and nature, Pellizzano tells of a small, still authentic Alpine world.

Pellizzano in Val di Sole, along the Noce

Pellizzano is located in the western part of Val di Sole, the Trentino valley carved by the Noce stream, which originates from the glaciers of the Ortles-Cevedale group and flows towards the Val di Non. The municipality, which stands at an altitude of 925 meters about 40 kilometers from Trento, was born from the union of the ancient communities of Pellizzano, Castello, and Termenago: the capital occupies the valley floor along the course of the Noce, while the two hamlets lie on the northern slopes, amidst meadows, woods, and scattered farmsteads. The municipal territory, extending over 48 square kilometers, borders Rabbi, Peio, Mezzana, Vermiglio, Ossana, and Pinzolo, in a position that places it at the center of one of the richest Alpine areas in western Trentino, nestled between the Brenta Dolomites to the south and the Ortles-Cevedale peaks to the north.

The church of San Rocco and the frescoed sacred heritage
